Flower Farming and Flower Arranging Workshop

$158.00

Are you passionate about flowers? Do you enjoy gardening and just being in nature? Join us this summer at our Flower Farming & Flower Arranging Workshop series for an immersive experience you can only get at a working farm & floral studio.

We’ll walk the field and talk about our sustainable growing practices. There’ll be an opportunity for you to ask questions and, of course, take photos among rows of flowers. We’ll then settle under the trees overlooking the flower field for a flower arranging session with a fully stacked flower bar of fresh, hydrated stems. In case of rain or other unfavourable elements, we’ll enjoy the coolness of our floral studio on the lower level of our barn, which is quite soothing on a hot summer day. The students will learn the basics of bowl centrepiece arrangement, a handy skill to decorate celebrations at home, prepare a flower gift, or when just wanting to display the ingredients from your own garden. It’s our go-to technique for the design of wedding centrepieces and Farm Fresh Florist orders. Naturally, you will take your creations home!

Come with your mom, your daughter or your son, grab your bestie, or sign up solo and connect with like-minded folks. Sip a cool summer beverage from our refreshment station and unwind with this therapeutic experience. At the end of the event, browse one-of-a-kind wearable and wall art pieces at our little Farm Shop.

We are located in rural Uxbridge, the hamlet of Zephyr, and we will email you the exact address upon completing your registration.

All supplies needed for the class will be provided.

*The tickets are non-refundable. This is a rain-or-shine event. For safety reasons, students must be 14 or older to participate in this workshop. In case of severe weather, the class may be rescheduled. PLEASE READ THE FULL TERMS AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE DESCRIPTION BELOW.

**In case you have questions about this class and you don’t find your answers in the full Description below, please email us at info@oldbarnflowerfarm.com.

WORKSHOP TERMS:

  • In an effort to provide the best possible experience, our Flower Workshops come in smaller groups and with limited capacity; we advise booking early. At the same time, at least five students must be enrolled for a workshop to run. We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel the workshop if there are not enough sign-ups or in case of severe weather when it is not possible or becomes dangerous to tour the field. Students will receive advanced notice, and in case of cancellations, refunds will be issued.
  • If we need to reschedule the event, it would typically move to the next day at the same time. If necessary, it would continue to move by one day within three consecutive days from the original date. In rare cases where the bad weather persists, the workshop may be postponed by a week.
  • There are no refunds if a student cannot attend the class after purchasing the ticket.
  • For safety reasons, we may welcome kids under 14 sometime in the future, but for now, this is your time to relax and recharge. Unfortunately, the same goes for individuals in walkers and wheelchairs or those experiencing any kind of mobility issues. It’s a significant walk from farm buildings to the main field via the grass terrain, and once we get into the field, the row formations and its infrastructure may present obstacles. Also, we know you all have adorable pets, and if they should come along, things could get out of control very quickly. Please leave them at home this time.
  • We reserve the right to decide where the ultimate spot on the farm will be for the flower-arranging session following the field tour. The first choice will always be outdoors, under the trees overlooking the flower field. However, in case of rain, increased mosquito population or other elements in nature that are out of our control, we can move the session to the sheltered space in the barn and our floral design studio.
  • All supplies needed for Flower Farming & Flower Arranging Workshop will be provided, including bowls/vessels, bowl mechanisms, flower food, and of course, flowers, all to take home. You are welcome to bring your own favourite snips, but in any case, we will provide ours to use during the class. The seating is also provided.
  • Fresh, cold, and non-alcoholic beverage options will be provided during the workshop.
  • Access to an on-site washroom in one of our farm buildings will be provided.

VALUABLE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Other than severe weather conditions, the Flower Farming & Flower Arranging Workshop will run in the sun or rain, so please come prepared. Sun hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, raincoats or umbrellas are all items that are good to have handy. Also, please keep in mind that it is a rural farm setting, the one where spraying of any kind is not in our practice, so bugs are given, and at times, they can be persistent. We are meeting while it’s still hot in a day to avoid mosquitoes, and we will have repellent on site; however, load up on your favourite spray and bring an extra layer to wear later on if needed.
  • Please wear comfortable, breathable clothes, and avoid open-toes shoes and sandals. Once we get into the field, the terrain is not smooth, and we don’t want you to trip. Some version of summer sneakers is the best option, and waterproof shoes or boots are your choice in case of light rain. You can also bring an extra pair you can switch to once we settle to work on our arrangements.
  • Toward the end of our event, students will have an opportunity to browse our Farm Shop and unique items handcrafted by our family members. In our store, you will find statement necklaces and some of the published pieces, original oil paintings, knitwear and our artsy greeting cards. You can preview and browse all items online via the links provided here.
  • To drive your bowl arrangement home, we suggest bringing any sort of shallower box and a towel or two to wrap the bowl around and keep it stable in the car.
